Looking Up For Damage

Author: CCG Dev March 13, 2014

In our last blog post, we talked about drought periods affecting the ground around your home and possible causing harm to your home’s foundation.  This week, we would like you to look up!

That’s right, because long, dry, and windy periods can be potential causes of roof damage and you may not see it very easily.  Are there any black streaks, loose shingles, or missing shingles?  If so, it might be a good idea to have your roof inspected by a professional.

The June 29th storm that swept across our area did harm to many homes and businesses, some of which did not realize it until much later.  One home, for example, just had someone perform a free roof inspection just to be safe.  Luckily the homeowner did so, because the wind storm had lifted the shingles, then pushed enough air and dirt under them so they were no longer sticking to the home.  One more storm, and the roof would have been gone.  This is why is pays to take a closer look or call a professional to avoid large-scale damage when the next big storm or rain comes our way.
